About The Artist - Stacey
Martin
What got me to
this point:> While growing up in Selinsgrove, Pa.
I had a passion for Art. In 5th grade I knew that I wanted to
become an Art teacher. During high school I took up to 4 Art
classes a semester and spent all my free time in the Art
studio. After graduation, I went to Kutztown University and
received a B.S. Art Education. I also have a M.S. in Teaching
and Curriculum from Penn State. After graduating from Kutztown
I began teaching Art at Lower Dauphin School District for the
last 12 years and where I am still currently employed. Even
though I love teaching Art, it doesn't leave much room for my
own creativity after I have spent all day brainstorming for
others. So this past May, I decided to take a year sabbatical
to pursue my other passion: Creating. For years I have wanted
to create a website where artists could display and sell their
artwork and be recognized for their talent they posses not
only by their friends, but by the world. I have finally
realized that this is my time to pursue my Art and share it
with others instead of keeping it stacked against a wall!
Ramblings about my creative
process: I enjoy creating all kinds of 2D and 3D
pieces. My passions are metal smithing, charcoal, and
photography. I also enjoy pottery, but it drives me nuts to
wait for it to dry, paint it, and wait to see the results out
of the kiln, but I absolutely love the end result. Maybe I
need instant gratification, who knows! When I create Art 99%
of the time, I finish a piece of Art in one sitting. Once I
start a piece I don't like to stop because my mood and style
varies each time I sit to create and I want my style to be
unified within the piece of Art. I am also an artist who has
to "feel it" or "be inspired" or the artwork doesn't come out
like I wanted it to. I work best under deadlines (even though
I might freak about it) and I tend to produce more stunning
Art this way. I am not the stereotypical artist who is
flighty, messy, and disorganized. I can't create in chaos or
while listening to hard rock music. Evaluating other Artists
and their methods, I believe my approach and methods to be
completely different, but it seems to work in my favor
